Tokaji Aszu
Perhaps the best wine from Hungary but in any case the oldest and the most famous dessert wine in the world. Only in the best years the Tokaji Aszu is made. The Hungarian word ‘Aszu’ means ‘candied’, the grapes affected by the Botrytis Cinerea with a high sugar content are picked manually. These grapes are added to 136 liters of dry basic wine. Depending on the quantity of Aszu grapes the wine gets its puttonyos. To make a Tokaji Aszu 3 puttonyos, the equivalent of 3 puttonyos is added to the dry base wine. Tokaji wine is made the most from the furmint grape. Often supplemented with grapes from the Harslevelu and Muskotaly. By using these indigenous grapes, the Tokaji Wine has a unique flavor.
